DURHAM, NC – [November 26, 2024] – Teamworks, the leading enterprise SaaS company serving 99% of Division 1 NCAA institutions, has announced the acquisition of Basepath, the leading NIL Operations Software that automates tasks, contracts, communication and finances for NIL stakeholders and student-athletes.

“Conferences and Athletic Departments are quickly transforming their operations and hiring new roles to make roster and compensation decisions they’ve never had to make,”  said Zach Maurides, Founder and CEO of Teamworks. “The union of Teamworks and Basepath means they’ll have an enterprise-grade platform, developed by the most trusted names in NIL tech, to help them confidently build their best team and manage payments.”

Teamworks’ Operating System for Sports™ provides a consolidated tech stack with best-in-class software to power every function within the Athletic Department. Specifically for NIL, 240+ D1 Universities and 100,000+ student-athletes have adopted Teamworks Influencer to manage content, deals, and transactions. Basepath built its strong reputation by connecting schools, collectives, donors, and athletes through its comprehensive NIL Operations platform used by more than 75 campuses and delivering over $100M payments to student-athletes.

In the last year, Teamworks and Basepath invested heavily in solutions to support the new revenue-sharing and NIL-driven collegiate sports model. Both companies introduced products to help conference leaders, collectives, department heads, and team GMs manage the complexities of total athlete earnings and launched platforms to pay student-athletes efficiently. Teamworks’ recent acquisition of Zelus Analytics lays the foundation for delivering sophisticated on-field performance metrics to empower decision-makers to assess the value of an athlete to their program objectively.

“Athletic Departments have to evolve quickly – but the technology must innovate even faster to stay ahead of the curve,” said Thomas Thomas, Co-Founder and CEO of Basepath. “By joining Teamworks, we’re positioned to build category-defining products to power the next era of collegiate athletics.”

Andrew Dennison, Co-Founder of Basepath added, “I couldn’t be more excited for our customers and employees. Both Teamworks and Basepath customers will benefit by getting the best of both products. Our incredible employees will work alongside new Teamworks colleagues with the same passion for building game-changing software.”

As part of the acquisition, Teamworks welcomes  15 Basepath employees to the team. Together, Teamworks will continue developing a unified personnel solution to help schools analyze, plan, and manage the end-to-end process of building competitive teams. The best of Basepath’s products will be incorporated into Teamworks’ suite of products, including General Manager, Influencer, and Wallet. Teamworks Wallet, currently rolling out to Influencer school collectives, will serve as the only fee-free digital banking service for student-athletes to maximize their wallet share.

“Often, technology is a market disruptor. But in the case of collegiate athletics today, ever-changing legislation has been the driver,” said Maurides. “Technology has the opportunity to be a stabilizing force. We believe we have a responsibility to help our industry mature, inject a degree of certainty, and arm people with the technology that helps them serve the student-athlete.”
