The Netherlands Olympic Committee is determined to be among the ten most successful elite sports nations in international medal rankings at the Paris 2024 Olympics. We caught up with Lisa Van Paridon, Project Leader of Athlete Management Systems for Team Netherlands, to learn how they incorporate Teamworks AMS into their preparations for the Olympics.
Driving Athlete Outcomes With Technology
Excellence in elite sports is woven into the fabric of Dutch society. The country invests heavily in technology to prepare its athletes for major events.
Purpose-built technology like Teamworks AMS allows for each discipline to tailor their workflows relative to the range of athletes. This ensures personalization in athlete well-being, medical support, and conditioning methods employed by the NOC.
“Teamworks AMS is the ultimate platform designed to support our athletes, coaches and experts within their daily training and performance environment,” highlights Van Paridon. “Athletes receive superior guidance, while coaches and experts maintain constant awareness of their athletes’ progress, empowering them to make informed decisions backed by data. It’s all geared towards fostering improved and healthier training methods helping us to achieve peak performance.”
Centralized Data with Personalized Views
Hosting data in one accessible platform was key in the NOC’s decision to use Teamworks AMS to support their Olympic Campaign in Paris. AMS allows coaches, athletes and experts to track performance and well-being data from anywhere in the world, allowing them to evolve their performance strategies at ease.
With the amount of sports the Netherlands have to cater for, the flexibility of Teamworks AMS means there is no one-size-fits-all approach. Every federation has their own customized site where each discipline tracks, monitors and manipulates their sport-specific data, ensuring a tailored user-experience for the relevant stakeholders.
“For the handball players, they register the number of jumps and the number of sprints,” noted Van Paridon. “In volleyball they look more at the height of the jump and where those jumps take place on the field. In wheelchair basketball they measure the distances travelled, the number of sprints and the number of brakes.”
“Teamworks AMS is used as our central EMR for elite sports in the Netherlands. For major events, it is mandatory that all athletes have a medical examination. All sports doctors are working with Teamworks, which allows the responsible team doctors to have access to all relevant and important medical data from the athletes participating in that major event.”

As the conversation drew to a close, we asked if Lisa had any members of Team Netherlands we should be looking out for in Paris: “A new sport at the Olympics this year is Breakdance. We are very proud that our 17-year-old B-girl India Sardjoe captured the historic first Olympic Ticket for Paris 2024, so definitely an athlete to watch there. For the Paralympic Games, Sanne Voets is definitely an athlete to watch!”
We can’t wait to support the two throughout their Paris 2024 journey!
