At a program as competitive as Alabama, operational excellence isn't optional. It's fundamental. For years, the Crimson Tide has built its reputation on precision, discipline, and attention to detail. Those principles extend throughout the program, including the increasingly complex world of Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) management.

With revenue sharing now established across the landscape, Alabama saw an opportunity to evolve. With 12 Teamworks products already integral to department operations, adding General Manager and Influencer felt like the logical next step. Together, they create a unified system for budgeting, contracting, payments, and reporting, all within the ecosystem where coaches, staff, and student-athletes already work.

Kyle Vasey, Deputy Director of Athletics and Chief Financial Officer at Alabama Athletics, explains the decision this way:

For us, it was really about bringing greater structure and efficiency to an increasingly evolving NIL environment. We already had a strong foundation with the broader Teamworks platform, and GM and Influencer give us an end-to-end, centralized solution that supports everything from NIL budgeting and contracting to cash flow management, scenario modeling, and payments to student-athletes.

Building a Better Process for NIL and Revenue Sharing

With centralized NIL budgets, contracts, and payment data in one place, Alabama now has real time visibility into commitments and how they fit within the overall athletic budget. The platform's scenario modeling lets staff run different budget scenarios instantly. Role-based permissions keep sensitive information confidential while ensuring everyone has access to what they need.

According to Vasey, the operational improvements are substantial.

GM gives us a much clearer picture of our NIL commitments and how those commitments fit within our overall budget. It also creates a more streamlined workflow — from getting agreements from negotiation through execution. These tools are complements that by giving us better visibility into our revenue share and NIL landscape, will help reduce some of the manual work and give our team better data to manage daily processes.

For the Crimson Tide, that means information that previously required manual entry now flows automatically to the systems that need it, freeing staff to focus on strategy instead of data entry.

The Value of One Ecosystem

What makes Alabama’s approach powerful is integration. Current athletes sync from Hub. Recruits sync from Compliance + Recruiting. Influencer surfaces third-party NIL and content opportunities. Player Personnel brings on-field performance data directly into athlete profiles, with GM tying it all together with budgeting, contracting, and payment workflows.

The result is operational simplicity at scale. Staff onboarding is faster because workflows are consistent. Permissions adjust instantly as roles evolve. And when data is needed, it flows from a single source of truth.

That integration extends to how student-athletes receive their money. Teamworks Wallet allows Alabama student-athletes to receive NIL, revenue share, and other payments in one place, with zero platform fees and automatic tax treatment built into specific payment types. When someone generates a payment in GM, it flows directly into Wallet with the correct tax classification already determined. Student-athletes get instant access to their earnings, and Alabama's business office gains complete visibility into all payment activity in one system.

Vasey emphasizes what this means for the department:

The biggest benefit is connectivity and familiarity. We have multiple needs across our department, and having those functions within it's easier for our staff to access information and creates a seamless experience for our student-athletes. It also gives us the opportunity to bring operations together rather than having a collection of disconnected tools.

For Alabama, General Manager, Influencer, and Wallet help complete the picture today, and as the NIL landscape continues to shift, Teamworks remains committed to growing alongside the program.
