A Conversation with Ricardo Martín Acevedo
When it comes to elite Paralympic sport in Spain, the Spanish Paralympic Committee (CPE) plays a pivotal role. As the umbrella organization for Paralympic sport, CPE works hand in hand with national federations, government bodies, and partners to ensure that athletes have the tools, resources, and support they need to succeed on the international stage.
Recently, we spoke with Ricardo Martín Acevedo, Sports Director of the CPE, about their mission, the exciting initiatives shaping the future of Paralympic sport in Spain, and how Teamworks AMS will be a game-changer for how they operate.

Building a Structure for Success
The CPE isn’t just about competing at the Paralympic Games—it’s about creating a sustainable system that fosters inclusion and excellence. The committee’s structure includes technical, medical, communication, and administrative departments, all aligned with a single mission: to provide athletes with every possible advantage.
Central to that mission is Plan ADOP, an ambitious program designed to support high-performance athletes on their path to the Paralympic Games. In addition, initiatives like Promesas Paralímpicas (Future Paralympic Stars), Relevo Paralímpico (Next Generation Paralympians ) and Nuestra Próxima Estrella (Our Next Star) aim to identify and develop the Paralympic stars of tomorrow, ensuring Spain remains competitive on the global stage for years to come.

Why Teamworks AMS?
As Paralympic sport evolves, so do the demands of managing complex performance, health, and logistical data across multiple disciplines and support teams. That’s where Teamworks AMS comes in.
The CPE is currently implementing Teamworks AMS with a full rollout planned for late 2025. Once operational, the platform will centralize key athlete information, streamline communication between coaches, medical staff, and athletes, and enable real-time decision-making.
Ricardo explains that the decision to adopt AMS was clear:
“The Paralympic environment is complex, involving multiple sports, impairments, and support structures. We needed a solution that could integrate everything into one cohesive system. Teamworks AMS stood out for its adaptability, real-time capabilities, and user-friendly interface.”

A Game-Changer for Paralympic Sport
For the CPE, AMS isn’t just about efficiency—it’s about elevating performance. Having a single platform for athlete data means the organization can identify trends earlier, respond to individual needs faster, and personalize support like never before.
“We believe Teamworks AMS will be a game-changer,” says Ricardo. “It will enhance transparency, coordination, and professionalism—not just within our organization, but across national federations. Ultimately, it will help us raise the level of performance as we prepare for upcoming Paralympic cycles.”
