The University of Wisconsin–Eau Claire (UWEC) has partnered with Teamworks, The Operating System for Sports™, to implement an integrated suite of products with Teamworks Hub, Compliance + Recruiting, Sports EMR, and Recruiting Communications, designed to streamline athletic operations, improve efficiency, and enhance support for student-athletes across all programs.
With a strong history of success that includes multiple national championships, UWEC Athletics is focused on streamlining communication, compliance and recruiting efficiency across all sports.
“Teamworks is the perfect vehicle for us to move forward,” said Robin Baker, Associate Athletic Director and Senior Woman Administrator at UW-Eau Claire. “We’ve had success for many years, but this [technology] helps us be more consistent and sustainable by getting everyone on the same page.”
Teamworks Hub will serve as UWEC’s central communication and operations platform, bringing schedules, facility management, and staff communication into one connected ecosystem. With Hub, coaches can instantly view facility usage and coordinate logistics without sending dozens of daily texts or relying on outdated excel spreadsheets. Combined with Teamworks Compliance + Recruiting and Sports EMR, the department will move away from manual recordkeeping toward real-time data that enhances accuracy, transparency, and institutional control.
“These efficiencies are what I’m really excited about. Taking day-to-day tasks and giving us time back in our day,” said Baker. “Our coaches can now focus more on developing student-athletes rather than managing paperwork.”
Investing in Innovation Through Strategic Funding
In Division III athletics, with limited resources, every financial decision requires careful planning and prioritization.
That’s what made the decision to implement Teamworks both thoughtful and forward-looking. Rather than introducing new expenses, UWEC identified existing resources that could be redirected to support long-term innovation and efficiency.
“We don’t have a lot of new money lying around,” Baker explained. “We looked closely at how to use our current funds more strategically and made the decision to invest in technology that will benefit every team. This wasn’t about cutting back. It was about moving forward and creating lasting value for our student-athletes and staff.”
By thoughtfully reallocating funds, UWEC was able to invest in a solution that impacts every sport on campus. From a compliance perspective, the platform ensures consistency across sports and reduces the risk of things falling through the cracks. On the recruiting side, coaches can manage prospects more strategically, track every step of the process, and communicate directly within the system, improving both efficiency and the student-athlete experience.
As the first institution in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) to adopt the Teamworks suite, UWEC is setting a new standard for innovation within Division III athletics.
