When George W. Arroyo stepped into his role as Director of Athletics at North Central University, he immediately recognized familiar challenges: scattered communication, duplicated work, and systems that made it hard for coaches and student-athletes to stay aligned. He had experienced the opposite in a previous role, where unified workflows and clear communication were anchored by a single central hub powered by Teamworks. As he put it, “Once you’ve seen the level of stability Teamworks creates, it becomes nearly impossible to operate without it.”

That clarity shaped how he approached North Central’s needs from the start.

Identifying the Gaps and the Need for Hub

Across teams, communication lived in texts, email threads, GroupMe chats, and informal updates. Without a real-time calendar, changes to practices, lifts, and travel created preventable conflicts. Documentation and workflows were scattered, causing coaches to redo tasks and creating confusion for student-athletes who wanted earlier notifications and more predictable rhythms.

Arroyo didn’t see a staff problem, he saw a systems problem. “The need for Hub became unquestionable,” he said, knowing how quickly alignment improves when everything lives in one place.

To bring Hub to North Central, Arroyo had to build the case internally. He framed the conversation around impact: giving coaches time back, strengthening communication across teams, and building clarity into every process. He tied Hub to a broader departmental priority of establishing consistent structures, one communication platform, one calendar, one documentation hub, one source of truth.

As a Christ-centered department, he also highlighted how organization and predictability enhance the way they support student-athletes. Financially, Hub offered retention benefits, reduced administrative load, and provided the scalability of a larger staff without the added cost.

Anticipated Impact

Hub will streamline communication by bringing every message, update, and schedule change into a single, trusted platform. A unified master calendar will reduce scheduling friction, while structured workflows will improve accountability, documentation, and onboarding for both coaches and athletes.

As Arroyo explained, “Teamworks doesn’t just clean up communication; it changes the way an athletic department operates. Once you experience that level of alignment, it becomes clear how much more your staff and student-athletes are capable of.”

For student-athletes, Hub brings clarity, consistency, and reduced stress, supporting their ability to balance academic demands with athletic commitments and strengthening the sense of belonging across every team.

Advice for Administrators

Arroyo encourages leaders to start by auditing how information flows. If communication is scattered across multiple apps, or if coaches feel pressure to overcommunicate, the issue likely isn’t the people, it’s the system.

“Culture flows through structure,” he said. “If you want unified excellence, you need unified systems.”

Hub delivers that structure from day one, equipping departments to operate with clarity, alignment, and a consistent experience for every student-athlete.
