Behind Every Great Team Stands a Greater Organizer
5:30 AM. The lights are off in Thompson-Boling Arena at Food City Center, but the day has already begun. Behind the scenes, Tennessee Women’s Basketball operations are in motion. Dr. Catherine Greene arrives at her office, opens her laptop, and launches Teamworks Hub. Within minutes, she’s coordinating the day’s schedule for 15 student-athletes, 6 coaches, and a dozen support staff. Practice changes, academic commitments, and media appearances are all organized and communicated in one place.
“Teamworks is essential for our success. It keeps us efficient at a high level. It’s a one-stop shop for everything we need to do, and it’s essential for my job.”
-Dr. Catherine Greene, Executive Director of Operations and Chief of Staff for Tennessee Women’s Basketball
As Executive Director of Operations and Chief of Staff for Tennessee Women’s Basketball, Dr. Greene is responsible for keeping everything off the court running smoothly. She manages travel, communicates with staff and student-athletes, and keeps every detail aligned. Her role is pivotal to the team’s success.
Her secret weapon? Teamworks Hub.
The Playbook: Teamworks Hub
While the Lady Vols execute plays on the court, Dr. Greene runs her own playbook through Hub. Every message, file, calendar event, and contact detail flows through one platform, making Teamworks Hub the center of Tennessee Women’s Basketball.
“I use it every single day in all aspects of my job, primarily with team travel,” she said. “Our student-athletes live by the calendar feature, and I live by the message blast.”
The message blast tool allows Dr. Greene to instantly notify every member of the travel party, from student-athletes and coaches to support staff and even transportation partners.
“It is a way that I can ensure that different groups are communicated with in an efficient manner. And oftentimes our travel party is upwards of 60. And so it is a way that I can just send direct communication, very conveniently, and then I can also filter it, if I need to, and send it to parents, send it to coaches, send it directly to student-athletes,” Greene said.
In a program where schedules shift quickly and details matter, Hub removes guesswork. A last-minute location change, a new class conflict, an updated arrival time. It’s handled and delivered to the right people instantly.
Everyone Stays in the Loop
What sets Tennessee’s operation apart is its comprehensive inclusion. In Dr. Greene’s system, everyone connected to the program is in sync. This includes players, coaches, support staff, and parents, keeping everything perfectly synchronized throughout the 30 plus week season.
That even includes the team’s transportation staff.
“This year, we’ve also included our bus drivers in our Teamworks, and that has been essential to just even streamline that communication,” Greene said,
By ensuring every person, including the bus drivers, receives the same timely updates, Dr. Greene minimizes the small miscommunications that can derail tight schedules. It is a quiet but powerful shift that reinforces why Hub is at the core of how Tennessee operates.
Teamworks Hub is more than just a platform. For Dr. Greene, it is the foundation for keeping Tennessee running at full speed.
Sustaining a Legacy
For a program with 43 consecutive NCAA tournament appearances, Tennessee’s legacy speaks for itself. It is a standard that requires constant evolution.
“I’ve continued to grow and evolve with Teamworks,” Greene said.
This evolution goes beyond just logistics. Team culture, performance metrics, academic progress, and even nutrition plans all flow through the same unified platform, giving everyone what they need to perform at their best.
As the Lady Vols look ahead, Hub remains a central part of how the program operates at the highest level season after season.
