For 17 seasons, Jason Seidling has been a part of the Pittsburgh Penguins organization, first in public relations, now as the Director of Team Operations. His work happens far from the spotlight, but it’s essential to keeping players, staff, and their families aligned through the demanding 82-game regular season schedule of an NHL season.

Since 2014, the Penguins have relied on Teamworks Hub to simplify operations, streamline communication, and keep everyone, from rookies to family members, connected and informed.

Seidling oversees a world that runs on details: flights, hotel check-ins, meal times, practice schedules, media day time slots, and player movements. Hub has become the backbone of that operation, helping him take complex logistics and make them nearly effortless for players.

“Players shouldn’t have to think about where to be or when. They should just open Hub and know,” said Seidling.

That ease of access allows the Penguins staff to focus entirely on on-ice performance while Seidling’s team ensures the structure supporting them never falters.

Family Ties Strengthened Through Hub

One of the Penguins’ most unique uses of Teamworks Hub is how it connects families to the organization. What began during COVID-19, when the team needed a solution to track who was attending games, has evolved into a lasting system of family inclusion.

By creating a dedicated Teamworks group for significant others and family members, Seidling has helped extend the Penguins’ culture beyond the arena. Families now receive schedules, updates, and reminders just like players and staff, ensuring everyone stays connected through the long season and potential playoff-run.

That transparency builds trust and belonging. “It makes people feel like they can reach out to the team and that the team is truly there for the family,” Seidling says.

From Camps to Call-Ups

From development camp to the final game of the regular season, Teamworks Hub keeps the Penguins synchronized. Each summer, the organization brings in more than 100 players and staff across its NHL and AHL affiliates, all managed through the Hub app’s scheduling and messaging tools.

Hub also powers one of the most crucial moments of any season: the player recall. When a player is called up from the minors, Seidling can make the switch instantly so that travel, schedules, and team communications update automatically. What once required hours of coordination with multiple team members now happens in seconds, giving new arrivals immediate access to everything they need the moment they join the NHL roster.

Schedule home or away game-series events through the Hub calendar

Once the regular season begins, the Hub calendar becomes the Penguins’ operational heartbeat. Every game, practice, travel itinerary, and meeting lives in one digital space that players, staff, and families can access anytime.

For Seidling, it’s more than convenience, it’s consistency. Players and families know exactly where to look, and he knows every update reaches the right people. “It’s not just efficient,” he says. “It’s correct. You always know you’re sending the right message to the right group.”

The Quiet Force Behind the Team

Seidling’s work doesn’t earn a Hart Memorial Trophy, but its impact is felt daily across the organization. From pre-scheduled reminders for ticket requests to detailed travel manifests, his role ensures every moment, on and off the ice, runs smoothly.

“I can’t block a shot or score a goal,” he says, “But I can make sure our guys, staff, and families have everything they need.”

And with Teamworks Hub, he does exactly that, quietly powering one of the NHL’s most organized and connected teams behind the scenes.
