Teamworks is pleased to announce its latest partnership in the National Rugby League (NRL) with the Melbourne Storm signing a multi-year Hub & Smartabase agreement. The Storm have been one of the most successful NRL teams over the last two decades, a period that has seen them playing in nine Grand Finals (winning five of them), playing finals for the last 13 years in a row (2011-23) and not losing a Round 1 fixture since 2001. Identifying Teamworks as an integral partner to continue delivering sustained success, Hub & Smartabase will allow the Storm to streamline operations and centralize medical data in one tech stack.

We did a significant amount of due diligence to find the right technology partner that would meet our clubs ongoing and future needs across all our teams. The Hub and Smartabase platforms were identified as the best solution to drive all our Operational and Medical requirements in one tech stack, it was very clear from the start of our conversations with Teamworks that they really understood how professional teams operate.” said Ross Patison, General Manager – Football Operations at Melbourne Storm.

“The implementation across our NRL first grade team was seamless and well received by all players and staff. We implemented this solution a week from our first game and have hit the ground running ever since. Super easy implementation. It was clear from the outset that Teamworks knew teams and how best to implement a system of this size across an entire club.”

When adopting new technology, one of the key areas is buy-in across the whole club, from junior pathways to first team.

“At the Storm we have multiple programs and teams running across a variety of locations. These programs include our NRL team, NRL Academy and Pathways Sunshine Coast Lightning Super Netball team. Across these programs Hub has enabled us to be more efficient and streamlined in our communication channels. It also gives us greater consistency across our programs by consolidating multiple operating systems we had previously. We have one system from junior pathways right up to our senior first grade squads integrated which has given us much greater visibility across our whole club.”

NRL teams travel a lot, so it’s important to streamline operations and provide information and visibility of the calendar, both to players and to their partners

“One of our favourite modules at the club is Travel module. We are an interstate team and require to travel every second weekend for our NRL team.  For our NRL squad we often have 3 x different game day locations that players are travelling to across the NRL & QLD Cup competitions. The Travel module has enabled us to digitise processes and ensure that players can access the itinerary relevant to them upon squad selection within minutes of the team being selected. The ability to change on the run gives greater flexibility also to quickly update the group on the road when schedules or times need to change.”

Hub for all.

“Hub for Players partners: We pride ourselves on being a family club. After rolling out Hub to the players, the club also extended our rollout to players partners to provide greater visibility on our long term scheduling which has been received really positively by our families who can plan their own lives off the field and look well ahead of time to book family occasions or schedule in anything outside of the football schedule.”

When asked about Teamworks vision of ‘the Operating System for Sport’, Ross was very clear:

“It really resonates with us that the player is at the forefront of everything that Teamworks is working on. Future integrations between Hub & Smartabase will continue to make us more efficient and enhance the overall experience. We are also confident that as our club needs grow and evolve, that the Teamworks suite of products will grow with us to meet our future needs. This was really important in our decision to sign with Teamworks.”
