Spend a day with Peyton St. George, a 2022 Duke softball graduate, former Athletes Unlimited pro, and now Product Success Manager at Teamworks, as she helps onboard student-athletes to Teamworks Wallet, the financial backbone of college athletics, processing nearly a quarter of a billion dollars in student-athlete payments since September 2024.

Morning: On the Ground, Not Behind the Screen
The day starts at a campus stadium or athletics facility where Peyton meets with athletics staff and welcomes student-athletes, adding to the thousands she’s helped get started on Teamworks Wallet. Peyton and her team are friendly faces ready to guide athletes through their first steps of onboarding to Teamworks Wallet. It’s the calm before the storm, but the preparation for the day ahead is key to success.
“The day typically starts by meeting with the main users on campus, the coaches who are excited about our platform, and everyone behind the scenes,” Peyton explains. “They do such a good job of setting the stage, which makes it easy for me to come in and support the student-athletes. ”

Midday: Built for College Athletics, Not Just Payments
By lunchtime, athletes are flowing through onboarding stations. Some are getting set up on Wallet for the first time, while others are learning how they can use Wallet to manage everything from payments to tax requirements, even for international students. Peyton takes a hands-on approach, walking each student-athlete through their setup making sure every athlete understands how to best maximize their Wallet account for long-term financial success.
“The first impression is everything,” Peyton says. “I always start with ‘I have sat where you have sat,’ and everyone immediately perks up. Reminding the athletes that Teamworks is a sports technology company for college athletics, built for college athletes, is key. We understand what they are going through.”
Peyton’s approach isn’t just about teaching athletes how to use the platform; it’s about helping them unlock financial freedom. Whether it’s empowering athletes to order food with DoorDash or booking a last-minute flight home during their off-season, Wallet allows them to feel in control of their financial lives.
“Wallet is about confidence and basic financial literacy,” she says. “We want athletes to walk out of the room a little more excited about finances.”

Afternoon: Turning Onboarding Into Confidence
By the afternoon, the sessions shift from setup to follow-through. In the football team’s film room, operations staff watch a live dashboard confirming nearly every student-athlete is fully onboarded. Those who still need help get one-on-one support before they leave.
The energy shifts. Athletes who started the day anxious about taxes, late payments, or financial confusion now leave with confidence. They know their accounts are active, payments are scheduled, and when the time comes for their first payment to hit their Wallet, Teamworks will be there to answer any questions. Peyton doesn’t pack up and disappear. She schedules follow-ups, shares her contact information, and lets everyone know she’s there if anything comes up.
“I wish I had something like this when I was in their shoes,” Peyton says. “It would’ve saved me so much stress around taxes and payments.”
For both the operations staff and athletes, it feels less like a transaction and more like joining a system built for them. A system where they can always count on a teammate they can call when needed.
Why It Matters
Choosing a platform to support athlete payments isn’t about who can send a quick login link or sponsor a banner at your arena. It’s about choosing a partner who stays invested after the first deposit clears.
Teamworks Wallet isn’t a one-day visit or a call center handoff, it’s a team of people like Peyton who check in after the first payments, troubleshoot with you when needed, and stay connected to ensure schools and athletes never feel alone.
“What excites me most is that we’re just getting started,” Peyton says. “Wallet keeps evolving based on what student-athletes and schools need next. We’re not just solving today’s problems.”
When schools choose Teamworks Wallet, they’re choosing more than just a payment processor. They’re choosing a teammate, someone who understands the stakes, shows up in person, and helps programs and athletes succeed season after season.
