The INFLCR team was back on the road last month, meeting with our Local Exchange customers. Amidst the ice storms, flight cancellations, and even some speed dating they had the opportunity to support student-athletes as they build their NIL brands.
Auburn University
Campus Visit: Senior Account Executive Joe Maggio spoke on a panel at their career networking night on the tie-in between NIL and Professional Development. He also participated in their ‘speed dating’ program discussing the benefits of editing student-athlete profiles with INFLCR.
Appalachian State University
Campus Visit: Peyton St. George, Product Success Specialist, and Sean Kelly made the trip out to Boone, NC to visit the Monutaineers. Peyton and Sean joined Doug Middleton, former App State safety and NFL veteran, and other NIL experts in a panel discussion talking to student-athletes and local Boone businesses about NIL. Peyton, a former All-American softball student-athlete and current professional athlete for Athletes Unlimited softball league, was able to share her brand building and NIL experience with Mountaineer student-athletes.
Hot Tip: Inviting local businesses to events with student-athletes is a proven winner. In-person networking is underrated and memorable connections are made. ðŸ¤
All-Star: Doug Middleton, former App State safety and NFL veteran, organized the panel discussion. Doug was able to bring in expert panelists and connect the student-athletes with local business owners. Well done, Doug!
Georgetown University
Campus Visit: Associate General Manager Sean Kelly represented INFLCR at the Georgetown NIL Summit. He joined other panelists from Meta, Altius, Invesco, and the Georgetown Business School to dive deeply into NIL, brand building, and social media best practices.
Hot Tip: Hilldrup, a local moving company, leveraged Georgetowns Local Exchange to do NIL deals with a few student-athletes. The moving company used its student-athlete ambassadors to hand out business cards in the student section of sporting events. #smartmove 🤗
All-Star: Dan ONeil, Deputy AD for External Affairs, led the efforts of planning this effort. Dan serves as the main contact for the INFLCR and Altius teams and serves as a great leader for Hoya Student-Athletes!
University of Florida
Campus Visit: INFLCRs Director of Product, Sam Evans, and Associate GM, Sean Kelly, hit the road at the beginning of February to Gainesville for a visit with the Florida Gators. Jeff Guin, Senior Associate Athletic Director for Academics, organized an on-campus NIL Summit with three breakout sessions. Student-athletes attended – two out of the three sessions. Topics included an INFLCR Overview and hands-on product demo led by Sam and Sean, financial literacy session led by Michael Haddix (CEO and Founder at Scout Investing), and an overview of savings best practices with Truist Bank.
Hot Tip: Creating breakout sessions helped drive student-athlete participation and engagement. Creating student-lead discussions with experts for the win! 🥇
All-Star: Jeff Guin leads all academic and student-athlete development efforts at UF and organized the NIL Summit. New NIL Director, Ben Chase, was also in attendance to introduce himself to student-athletes as he starts in his new role at the beginning of 2023.
University of South Florida
Campus Visit: The University of South Florida Athletics staff organized a first-class NIL Symposium in late January, hosting NIL experts Courtney Altemus and Luke Fedlam from Team Altemus and INFLCRs Associate GM Sean Kelly. 300 student-athletes turned out to take a deep dive into the current state of affairs for NIL. The day included breakout sessions and a lively panel discussion led by Bulls Athletics Director Michael Kelly.
Hot Tip: Diverse content was key! This was not a one-size-fits-all presentation. Student-athletes were invited to attend presentations on topics such as financial literacy, international student-athletes & NIL, and contract review best practices during breakout sessions. In the end, everyone gathered together to hear closing remarks with a panel discussion.
