The Rugby Championship (TRC) is one of the most prestigious annual tournaments in the rugby calendar, where four of the most storied rugby nations, Argentina (Los Pumas), New Zealand (All Blacks), Australia (Wallabies) and South Africa (Springboks), compete across a series of matches. One thing the 4 teams have in common is relying on technology solutions to streamline operations and drive performance.
Teamworks, the Operating System for Sports, is driving forward the innovation behind the teams in this year’s Rugby Championship. From player performance data, to operations and communication tools, discover how our products are giving the top teams from the southern hemisphere a competitive edge.
Early Adopters
In 2017, the All Blacks became the first international team to adopt AMS, consolidating a holistic view of their players health and performance data. Later, they added Hub to solve for internal communication and planning processes across staff and athletes, ensuring all daily operations were streamlined and available on one secure platform. Since the early adoption of such technology, the All Blacks became one of the first organisations in APAC to be part of Teamworks Elite partners in 2023 marking their commitment to ongoing innovation.
Personalised & Coordinated Care
With AMS, performance staff at national governing bodies like New Zealand Rugby and Rugby Australia are tracking athlete health and performance data regionally, across each athlete’s own club and bringing it together when the time is right for national squads. AMS underpins a key storytelling component for performance staff who want to ensure consistency in athlete welfare and performance throughout the year.
One Source of Truth
Meanwhile, Hub is the one source of truth required by the staff and athletes at Los Pumas and the Springboks to connect all of their moving pieces ahead of competition: anytime, anywhere.
With athletes pulled in an array of directions throughout the summer months, Juan Passano, Team Manager at Los Pumas stresses the importance of one source of truth to keep everyone informed and connected:
“We cannot train with the whole team together, so our situation is not easy as the players are preparing for this big tournament on their own. Because of this, it’s key to have added Hub to our system as it’s the way we use to send players their individual training plans and our source of truth for all communications. Today, all team communications are through Hub.
Without a doubt communication is key, but calendar and forms features within Hub are fundamental to our day-to-day during our season. This year, when we added the rest of the teams of the union (Pumas Seven, Pumas Under 20, Yaguaretes, Dogos and Pampas XV), I could also see the difference of having the profiles of all the players of the Union in one place. When it came time to call players up to Los Pumas it made everything easier, not only because of the information, but also because the players already knew how to use Hub.”.
